The Cooling Process

Hot Water Inlet
Hot water returning from the system is fed into the tower from the top or side inlet.
Air Contact
Water contacts air in counterflow or crossflow principle as it passes through the fill media.
Evaporative Cooling
A small portion of the water evaporates, carrying large amounts of heat energy to the atmosphere.
Cooled Water
The cooled water collects in the basin and is fed back to the system, repeating the cycle.

Open Circuit Cooling Tower
A classic evaporative cooling solution that rejects heat by evaporating a portion of the water. At Ensotek, these systems are offered in counterflow and crossflow configurations.
Closed Circuit Cooling Tower
The process fluid circulates in a closed-loop coil and does not directly contact the outside environment. Ideal where fluid cleanliness must be preserved.
Counterflow
In open-circuit towers, water flows downward while air moves upward. It offers a compact footprint and high thermal efficiency.
Crossflow
In open-circuit towers, water flows vertically while air moves horizontally. It provides easier maintenance access and a broad air intake area.

Closed Circuit Cooling Towers – CC CTP / CC DCTP Series
Closed circuit systems are preferred in processes where the water to be cooled is susceptible to contamination. The water required to remain clean is cooled as it passes through the pipe coils in the closed type tower. Hot water flows inside the coil, while cold air and circulating water remove heat from the coil surface. Closed circuit cooling towers are commonly used in processes containing sensitive equipment such as air compressors, induction furnaces and chillers.
